I dare you to try this next to the Star Anise mentioned earlier. It is much, much sweeter. Use it for color in beer in small amounts. Also, for reasons unknown to me, it seems to aid hugely in head retention. A small amount of licorice root in a dry stout will add a dimension to the flavor without being recognized. It will also increase the lifespan of the head on your beer by about an hour. A truly remarkable product and almost a "must" for any Porter or stout being made. | ||||||
