Since 1988, when Congress announced the first National Homebrew Day would be acknowledged on the first Saturday in May, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) has been sanctioning an annual event called Big Brew. Each year the AHA selects two or three recipes to highlight the Big Brew festivities. On Big Brew Day, these recipes are brewed by hundreds, if not thousands, of brewers around the world. Alternative Beverage will be hosting the Carolina Brewmasters in celebrating this event in the lake side park at our Belmont facility.

One of the big features of the this event is the communal brew-in and our goal is to have at least ten (10) brewers participate. Local homebrewers are encouraged to bring their equipment to our Belmont warehouse to brew their batch of beer. The event is open to anyone that enjoys good beer, wants to learn how to brew, wants to see different brewing techniques, wants to meet local homebrewers and talk beer and you don't have to brew on Saturday to participate. Alternative Beverage will be serving some select meats (depending on the market). We would like to encourage attendees to bring covered side dishes, deserts, drinks and BEER. Our shady lake side park with its expansive grassy area is an inviting place to spend a lazy Saturday. Bring lawn chairs, coolers, frisbees and other yard games. Did I say bring beer - yes, please bring your favorite homebrew or other favorite beverage to share with others. If you bring your fishing pole and don't forget your fishing license. Bring the whole family, it will be fun but please do not bring pets. CLICK here register to attend.

There will no charges for attending this event but we will be having a raffle to raise donations for the NC Tornado Victims.

The gates will be open by 9 am and brewing will be going on most of the day. We will have extra propane burners and kettles on a first come, first serve bases.
