Scottish ales are closely related to the English Bitter family of beers, and are the Scottish equivalents. They are brown in color with a lower hopping rate than their English counterparts. Like Bitters, they have a low carbonation level which contributes to their softness, and they are brewed from hard water. Our Scottish Heavy has a pronounced hop flavor with medium maltiness and body. Fruity esters and a smoky character will be obvious.
